Hi everyone,

After visiting as a guest a couple of times I have finally decided to take the leap and join this wonderful forum.  My name is Cherie and I have recently moved to Rosewood near Ipswich.  I own one horse, he's a quarter horse X Clydie.  I have had him for nearly two years now. I have always had a love of horses right from dot and got my first horse when I was 5.  At the age of 11 I plucked up the courage to join a pony club which opened up a whole new world for me.  For the next 7 years I competed what seemed to be nearly every weekend from gymkhanas to One Day Eventing. Those days seem like a lifetime ago and as much as I miss it I have now settled for leisurely trail riding instead. Life changes when you settle down get married and have two young children. My loving supportive Husband is in the RAAF based at Amberley. He helps me out wherever he can with the horse even though sometimes he feels like he comes second..., then he remembers that having a happy wife is a happy life.  Our two beautiful boys are 3 and 4 and keep me busy in any spare time that I have, which isn't much and I'm well aware that in a couple more years will probably be less.

As I'm new to the area I don't know many people and would like to find some riding companions.  There are so many riding tracks available to us horse riders out there but its always nice to share the enjoyment with others.  I have my own float so travelling isn't any problem.

Looking forward to making new friendships with other horsey people.

Cherie

OH Cherie, we have SO MANY members in your area.  I personally am just 30kms from you.

On the Sunday just gone, we were at the Working Cow horse club day in Rosewood at the Showgrounds.  I think you will definately find riding companions.  ENLI is in the Ipswich area and is always looking for somewhere/someone to ride with. She has just joined ATHRA and is getting to know others that way.   Equimatchz, Breidi, Ellie and Lea are all in the Rosewood area.  There is a campdraft coming up in September, part of the Rosewood Festival.

Keep an eye on the events section  Smiley

Welcome Cherie, I live near Jimboomba so am not in your area............although it is only about a 40 minute drive. Are your boys interested on horses? You might need a couple of leading rein ponies soon if they are.  Grin

Thank you to all for welcoming me to the forum,

As you mentioned bekk (equimatch) it did take me a little while to get here.  I needed hubby's help With getting set up and also to navigate me through the forum.  Let's put it this way, I find myself knowing my way around a horse better than a computer Shocked) I must catch up with you soon and introduce myself in person.

Ashstud thank you for naming a few of the members in our area and giving me the heads up with the event in Rosewood in September. I have spoken with Equimatch already and know that she and another lady would be keen to go riding sometime. I'll keep an eye out for in the events section for anything else happening in the township. I might join the local Pony Club yet, it just might take a little bit to pluck up the courage.  I know it would be a lot of fun, but I'm not as young as I used to be and certainly don't bounce as well if I happen to come off  Shocked)

Honeybun, you asked if my boys were into horses.  They don't seem to be at the moment as much as I would love them too.  They seem to be more interested in wheels and Horsepower just like their Dad.  Occassionally they will have a ride on the horse so who knows there might be hope yet.

I'm hoping to check out a few rides in the area once my horse has had some more work.  He hasn't really been ridden for the last 3 months due to the completion of the house that we have just finished building.  I will put up a post to invite others who may be interested in joining me when the time comes.

Look forward to catching up with you all soon

Cheers

Cherie,

I don't know much about the Pony Club there, but my Neighbours, the Weales are very involved.  They are wonderful people Smiley

Hi Troopersgirl, I live at Thagoona. Rosewood is very central to a lot of horse clubs and activities.
My OH is a trainer and we have monthly clinics at our place. They are very friendly days and all levels of horse and rider are welcome.
Check out the website, and drop us an email if you are interested.
