That's so sad.  That's really bad luck.  Who would have thought that snakes would have been round this time of year.

In saying that I wouldnt put a 17.2hh stallion over a 14.2hh mare

Why Not? Ive breed my 14hh galloway mare 4 times first to a 16hh percheron, 2nd to a 16hh Thoroughbred, 3rd and 4th to a 17hh percheron X Belgian and she's went back again for the 5th time to the same stallion. never had a problem with any of the births etc.

They say that the foal will only grow to a size the mare should be able to handle and they do the most of their growing once they are born......however, there are those cases where the foals seem to be too big.  Whether this be because of size or perhaps the mare's hormones didn't allow their pelvis to open far enough, I don't know.

We like to keep within 3 hands difference for mare - stallion, either way but if the mares a maiden then she must be the bigger of the two.

We've served our pony mares 10 hh and 12 hh to a mini stallion, we made him a platform of hay bales so he could hit the spot.

Tb mares are quite cheap as there are so many of them, you could consider buying a mare specifically to breed what you want and later rehoming her but thats just getting you the colour and height you wanted, its not going to get you whatever special you had happening with the mare you lost.

Do you say brumbies as in real brumbies or brumbies as in nags LOL?

Yea I have 2 to be registered brumbies.  Received their certificates a couple of weeks ago and just need to work out how to fill the Brumby register paperwork out then will send it in.

My biggest problem is if I buy something I hate to let it go weather to a good home or not so those animals that come my way either stay here or get eating Smiley and as I don't eat horse meat you know what happens  Grin

Is there a such thing as thoughabred pinto's, now that would be nice
