This topic should be in the laundry as it has made me very angry at the people who neglect their animals.
HH had a pony stay at her place, its not even fit to complete the journey to where it was going it is so poor. I really do NOT know why its still alive or why it's eyes are so bright. It has a bad infection and has now been given antibiotics.
I just went down there to donate a rug so eventually she can be washed and not stand there shivering in the breeze afterwards. This was probably bought for someones kids and now they have outgrown her she has been left to fend for herself. Since we are in a drought situation around here she would not have found much pick in the last few months.
Its by far one of the saddest cases I have seen.

Hi all,
Well Blondie is her name, Blondie is now here with me as it was decided that she would not make the journey to the meat works where her previous owners had sent her! after her loyal years of being a teacher for their young children.. her owners decided that they could get $50 for her from the meat man so thats what they did! ( Mind you even he was disguisted at the horrid condition she was in and gave her to me after he had payed for her!)
she is an aged pony but none the less there is no excuse for this neglect!
Blondie is around 12.3 h, at this stage I have no idea how old she is though I would not expect she is not younger than 20 + years she had a severe sinus infection and had the stinkiest green discharge running out of her nose, after not even 4 days of antibiotics the discharge has cleared! She is currently in my stables and that is where she will stay while she develops some strength! She already looks to be picking up after a good worming, and 5 feeds a day!
I will get Indy to post some pics for me asap so everyone can see this discrace that has come my way... with any luck she will be looking better soon!

That is horrible! How can people just ditch there beloved creatures and let them be taken to the meat works. Do they not have any respect for their creatures? Do they think they are just discardable items.
-shakes head- Some people can be so cruel.
Thankgod she now has you two to look after her and give her some love...

well just over 2 wks on now and godie as we call her is doing well, she has put on a little weight and is bright free of infection and is happy! She chases us for food now and now spends her days in the house paddock.. she is still stabled at night and will be for some time I think, but overall her condition has improved her coat now has shine and all her dead old coat is gone.. I will get some pics tomorrow, naughty me didnt take any on her arrival but she is still poor and was worse 2 wks ago! so even though the pics arent from when she arrived you will be able to imagine what she was like. She is such a nice girl... I am so glad that she is here!

I read your post with sickening interest. It is so common for ppl to do this to animals; horses in particular. There is a woman out at Maidenwell, Sth East QLD who has just had her animals impounded again. She acutally has some well bred qtr horses, but through neglect and abuse they are now not a shade of what they could have been. This woman also has 150 dogs (the DPI took 70 off her a while back), cattle that have their horns about to grow into their heads and........... the RSPCA/DPI have been trying to deal with this woman for at least 20 years from what I can understand.
WHY does this happen and how can people get away with it - especially over and over and over.
P.S The woman has a mare that has just foaled 2 weeks ago - the mare will be euthanised as it has some kind of ulcer (for over 12months now - AND has been under observation for this long) When the foal was a day old the woman put some kind of rug on it that restricted its movement etc.............. Sorry to rave but there is just so much to this story and STILL nothing gets done!
What I had intended to say was - Well done with the pony rescue and I can't wait to hear of you success!!!
